Challenge
Customer is looking for a membrane switch solution with 13 LEDs and 5 metal domes. This was a challenging situation, considering the overall size of the part was small, so there is not a lot of real estate to work with. Our customer requested 0603 LEDs, due to its size. Consistent and accurate placement are critical for the LEDs.
Solution
The new 0603 LED series have been designed in the smallest SMD package. This package offers significant advantages for backlighting, indicators, membrane switch applications, and further enhances design versatility and maneuverability for design engineers.

Results
General Label’s innovative SMT pick-and-place equipment allows us to expand our capabilities with high precision placement for one of the industry’s smallest and thinnest LEDs. The built-in high tech camera system verifies that the placement of every LED is within .002”, every time. Populating the 0603 LEDs and 8mm metal domes was very precise.
